WSU Psychology Clinic Appointments & Fees

Make an Initial Appointment

All new therapy/assessment clients should call the office to inquire about services. Once it has been determined that the clinic offers the services that you are seeking, we ask you to fill out our paperwork. After receiving your completed paperwork, we will put you on our waiting list and call you when we have an opening.  Intake appointments are typically scheduled for 2-hour blocks.  The initial interview provides an opportunity for your therapist to gather specific information about treatment or assessment needs and to review clinic policies. Therapy or assessments appointments are scheduled after the intake session.

Therapy clients can expect to meet weekly with a therapist.  Assessment clients can expect to meet for 2-4 hour testing sessions per week. Assessments can take from 3-10 hours depending on the type of assessment, clients availability to test and overlap of schedules.

For child services a 10-20 minute phone screening is performed prior to scheduling an intake session.

Often, clients seeking services are placed on a waiting list depending on the availability of clinicians working at the clinic. The WSU Psychology Clinic is a training facility, not all cases are appropriate for doctoral student clinicians. If this is the case, appropriate referrals will be made to outside providers.

Fees

We offer a sliding fee scale for services in the clinic and do not bill medical insurance (including Medicaid and Medicare).  We are not contracted with Medicare/Medicaid and Medicare/Medicaid will not pay for services received at the WSU Psychology Clinic.

Unfortunately, most medical insurance will not cover services provided by graduate student therapists.

WSU students will be charged our lowest fees for therapy and  assessment services.

Payment

Payment is due at the time of service and the full fee for testing will be collected at the first day of testing. Under certain circumstances and only if absolutely necessary, short-term payment plans may be developed and must be approved by the Director.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Collection Accounts

If your account is sent to collections, you will need to pay off the balance and pay future visits in full at the time of service. Accounts turned to collections will be managed through the WSU Controller’s Office.
